 "By improving infrastructure, we enhance the quality of life, create more jobs, reduce poverty and, as part of that process, our people can improve their access to services," stated Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie this morning at the Palacio San Martín, during the opening of the 7th Ordinary Meeting of Ministers of UNASUR's South American Council of Infrastructure and Planning (COSIPLAN), alongside the Minister of the Interior, Rogelio Frigerio, and the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich.

Today, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Guyana, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay signed the Presidential Declaration of Buenos Aires, in which they ratified their commitment to "join efforts" in order to consolidate the growth of their economies, eradicate poverty, create jobs, improve education and take advantage of the boom of new technologies, among other important issues in the light of the challenges posed by the 21st century.

Within the framework of the 11th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to be held in Buenos Aires on 10-13 December, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie, Argentine Vice President and President of the Senate Gabriela Michetti, and President of the House of Deputies Emilio Monzó opened the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO this afternoon.

Today, in the presence of the Governor of San Juan Province, Sergio Uñac, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie and Chilean Ambassador José Antonio Viera-Gallo signed an Agreement to withdraw the 50 million tonnes of waste materials deposited in Argentine territory by the Chilean mining company Los Pelambres.

Today, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie opened the "Argentina-France Meeting on decentralized cooperation: a look at new challenges for local governments in the 21st century", held at the Palacio San Martín.
